Dr. Michael A. Norman D.M.D
Dr. Norman of Elm Family Dental is a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. He has a General Practice Residency certificate from the Philadelphia Veterans Memorial Hospital and a degree in Biology from Johns Hopkins University.
Dr. Norman is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentists, the Connecticut State Dental Association, and the New Haven Dental Association.
He began practicing in West Haven Connecticut in December of 2002. He enjoys positive, long-term relationships with patients and guiding them toward ideal oral health. Dr. Norman’s patience and gentle nature are why he's the perfect choice for anxious patients.
Dr. Norman lives in Glastonbury, CT, with his wife Jennifer and their children Sydney, Michael, Matthew, and James. When not working, which is rare due to his workaholic tendencies, he enjoys kayaking, exercising, taekwondo, and spending quality time with his family.
Dr. Darnell M. YoungBoard Certified Pediatric Dentist
Dr. Young is a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. At the University of Connecticut, he earned awards for Community Service and Research. He participated in a published research study: “Dentin Bonding Agents: A Two-Year Study.”
Dr. Young graduated Magna Cum Laude from Syracuse University and earned an Academic Excellence in Biology award and a Bachelor of Science degree. He completed specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry at Temple University Hospital and a certificate in Pediatric Dentistry.
He also earned a Morris Kelner Progress in Pediatric Dentistry Research, trained in caring for children with special needs, and has also been formally trained in oral conscious sedation as well as hospital dentistry.
Locally active, he provides oral hygiene instruction and dental screenings at the New Haven Boys and Girls Club, Tutor Time, and the Colgate Bright Smiles & Bright Future Program. He participates in the Dept. of Public Health’s Dental Home by One program.
He is an active member of the ADA, AAPD, ABPD, CSPD, and CSDA. Being family oriented, he spends time with his beautiful wife and daughter, Erica and Cyan. His hobbies include music, off-roading, sports, exercise, science, traveling, and conversations with good people.
Nancy Gioia, RDH
Nancy has been a Registered Dental Hygienist for over 8 years. She has an Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of New Haven. A native of East Haven, Nancy worked for SNET / AT&T after graduating from East Haven High School.
Nancy's family grew with four wonderful boys Joshua, Jordan, Joseph, and Jonathan. When she brought her children to the dentist, they struggled with anxiety. This inspired her to pursue dental hygiene to help her own and all children have a better experience.
Nancy currently lives in Branford and comes from a strong Italian family. Her mother's Italian cooking is some of the best on the shoreline! When she isn't working, she cherishes her time with her boys and enjoys traveling with John, the love of her life.
